Kayleigh Crummey

Artistic Faculty

Kayleigh (she/they) started taking ballet classes at age 3 in the basement of her local community center.  This snowballed into taking several dance classes a week, participating in competitions, choreographing musicals and ultimately pursuing a career in dance.  Her bachelor’s degree is from Eastern Michigan University, where she majored in pre-dance therapy and graduated with highest honors.  Post graduation, she began teaching dance at Ballet Chelsea, Arts in Motion Ann Arbor and Sunshine Special Children’s Studio.  In addition to the studio realm and performance spaces, she led adaptive dance classes in residential communities, special education programs, senior centers and memory care facilities.  She also completed Adaptive Dance Teacher Training with the Boston Ballet.  After 5 years of teaching, she was inspired to continue her studies at Naropa University where she earned her master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy.  It was there she researched the intersection between sensory integration and relational nervous system regulation.  Kayleigh is now a registered Dance/Movement Therapist with the American Dance Therapy Association.  Equipped with a deeper understanding of the healing art of dance, she continues teaching with a focus on supporting others in developing a joyful sense of embodiment and expression through movement.
